The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) continues its search and rescue operations on the morning of January 24, for four missing Filipino crew members following the capsizing of the vessel M/V Devon Bay.

PCG’s 97-meter offshore patrol vessel, BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701), is actively conducting radio communications and coordination with transiting vessels in the area.

To further augment surface search operations, a PCG Islander aircraft was deployed for an aerial search after taking off at 7:20 a.m. on January 24, expanding the coverage of the reported distress area.

“All transiting vessels in the area are requested to proceed with caution, maintain a sharp lookout, and render assistance as necessary, in accordance with international maritime regulations,” a PCG radio operator said.

The M/V Devon Bay was carrying 21 Filipino crew members when it capsized off Ango Bay in Pangasinan. Seventeen of those onboard were successfully rescued by a passing China Coast Guard vessel, while four crew members remain unaccounted for.

Earlier, the Chinese Embassy in Manila confirmed that the CCG conducted the rescue of the surviving crew members, where 14 were in stable condition, two were confirmed dead, and one was receiving emergency medical treatment.
