The President will likely finish reviewing the nearly 1,000-page report submitted by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) about their investigation into the anomalous flood control projects this February, the Palace announced on Friday.
However, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro could not say for sure whether President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will soon be issuing a decision regarding the ICI’s future, amid talks of its termination.
Castro explained that President Marcos still needs to examine the entire report, which will allow him to issue a just and sound decision.
At present, Marcos and ICI Chairman Andres Reyes have yet to speak in person, the palace official said, although work at the ICI is still ongoing.
She added that the commission has submitted numerous recommendations to the Department of Justice and the Office of the Ombudsman, the progress of which—now filed as cases before the Sandiganbayan—can be tracked by the public.
On February 6, the independent probe body submitted to the Office of the President its report detailing its activities and accomplishments within five months, which includes nine referrals, covering 65 individuals, and another set of 66 individuals to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the issuance of Immigration Lookout Bulletin Orders (ILBOs).
