Just in time for the Undas season, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. bared some eerie childhood memories in a special video feature released by Malacañang titled "The Baguio Mansion House Horror Stories".

Reflecting on his family's traditional holiday visits to the historic presidential summer residence, the Chief Executive admitted that he and his companions often sensed an unexplained, ghostly presence within the estate’s halls.
“Nung bata kami, pupunta kami diyan ‘pag Holy Week. Siguro, hindi ko alam, baka imagination lang namin, pero para kaming may nararamdaman,” Marcos recalled, describing the chilling atmosphere of the historic property.

Built originally as a summer home for American governors-general before transitioning to a Commonwealth presidential retreat, The Mansion has long stood as a silent witness to monumental periods in Philippine history. However, its grand corridors also harbor darker memories, particularly from World War II when Baguio City became a fierce battleground subjected to heavy air raids and bombings.

Connecting the estate's paranormal reputation to the tragedies of the past, the President noted that the intense wartime casualties might explain the lingering spirits.

The President also pointed out that these spine-chilling experiences are not limited to visitors, noting that estate caretakers and long-term residents have repeatedly shared accounts of strange noises, unexplained shadows, and unusual occurrences.

Designated as a National Historical Landmark by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines in January 2009, The Mansion recently opened its doors to the public in 2024 as a fully operational Presidential Museum displaying historical artifacts and memorabilia from past administrations.
