The government has accelerated the construction of farm-to-market roads in Brgy. New Casay, Braulio E. Dujali, Davao del Norte, following directives from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to boost farmers’ income and ease transport costs amid rising fuel prices.

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon, together with Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., inspected the ongoing project and emphasized its economic benefits for local farmers.

Dizon said that once the remaining 1.9 kilometers of the road are completed, travel time for transporting agricultural products from New Casay to Dujali will be cut from 30 minutes to just 15 minutes.

He added that even with only 800 meters completed so far, farmers have already seen fuel costs reduced by half.

The improved road network is expected to benefit not only farmers in Dujali but also those in nearby areas, including Tagum City, by providing faster and more efficient access to markets.

The Department of Public Works and Highways also committed to completing necessary riprap and drainage systems to prevent flooding and protect farmlands as part of the government’s broader push to strengthen rural infrastructure and support the agriculture sector.
