President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has ordered the Department of Energy (DOE) to expedite the restoration of electricity in areas devastated by Typhoon Tino.
The DOE, through its Task Force on Energy Resiliency, immediately launched restoration operations, including preventive planning, system assessment, clearing activities, and logistical coordination following the disaster, as reported by RH Jecelle Ricafort.
According to the latest situation report from the DOE, power supply has been restored to 82.67 percent of affected areas — equivalent to 291 out of 352 municipalities impacted by the typhoon.
Restoration efforts continue for more than 917,000 consumer connections, while 84 out of over 3,000 gasoline stations remain non-operational due to damage and power issues.
Despite these challenges, the DOE assured the public that the country’s fuel supply remains stable, and the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines (IEMOP) and on-grid power generation systems are functioning normally.
