President Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. honored boxing legend Manny Pacquiao during a ceremony at the Philippine Sports Museum, where Pacquiao’s memorabilia, including his competition shorts and WBC championship belt, were officially handed over.
President Marcos lauded Pacquiao not only for his record-breaking career as the only eight-division world champion but also for his role in uniting Filipinos and inspiring national pride.
“He is a champion of humanity, a champion as a Filipino, and a champion in all our hearts,” he said.
The memorabilia, which includes trunks from Pacquiao’s bouts against Miguel Cotto (2009) and Antonio Margarito (2010), celebrates his extraordinary achievements inside and outside the ring, highlighting his humility, generosity, and enduring legacy.
Pacquiao remains active in boxing, with two scheduled fights this year, including a September rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in Las Vegas.
