President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. donated five Starlink internet units to five schools in Marawi City, RH Leth Narciso reported on Monday, June 23.
On Monday, the President inspected the Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS) at Barangay Sagonsongan in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur. According to the Presidential Communications Office’s (PCO) social media post, Marcos toured the TLS area where classes are in progress, with around 720 students.
“This ensures that learners affected by the Marawi siege continue to receive educational support in a safe and functional environment,” the PCO said.
The five internet units were a personal donation from the President to provide students and teachers with reliable internet connectivity. One Starlink unit was donated to each of the following schools in remote parts of Marawi City: Bangon Elementary School, Bacarat National High School, Angoyao National High School, and Cabasaran Primary School.
The Office of the President (OP) also distributed school bags filled with supplies to all TLS enrollees.
According to the report, the TLS is an emergency education initiative launched in 2017, following the Marawi siege. The initiative provided makeshift classrooms for children in areas where school buildings were inaccessible due to the conflict.
“These learning spaces are constructed using tents, modular structures or repurposed buildings and are designed to ensure that students can continue their education despite displacement and recovery challenges,” the PCO stated.
