President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. announced that former Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez may face charges—including plunder, anti-graft violations, or indirect bribery—depending on the assessment of the Office of the Ombudsman.
According to the President, the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will turn over all gathered documents and information regarding alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Marcos said:
Marcos said possible charges may be filed depending on the evidence submitted.
“Pag nakita lahat ng ebidensya, baka mag-file ng kaso ng plunder o anti-graft o indirect bribery.”
He further emphasized that the Ombudsman will act strictly based on facts, and wherever the evidence leads, the investigation will follow.
As of this writing, Co and Romualdez have not issued public statements regarding the President’s remarks.
The Ombudsman has yet to release information on the timeline for evaluating the submitted evidence.
