President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. encouraged media practitioners to assist the government in combating fake news during his speech at the oath-taking ceremony of the board of trustees of the Association of Philippine Journalists–Samahang Plaridel Foundation Inc., held at the Kalayaan Hall, Malacañang on Friday.
"In this time of unregulated social media, of fake news, artificial intelligence, now more than ever we need your help in empowering our people to distinguish the truth from fiction and facts from blatant lies," Marcos said in his speech.
President Bongbong Marcos recognized the crucial role of the media in consistently providing the public with accurate information through significant and truthful news.
In a Facebook post, the president stated that the administration is committed to fostering an environment where media practitioners can work freely, safely, and effectively, ensuring that journalism continues to be a cornerstone of the nation's democracy.
