President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. addressed the nation in his recent video statement, detailing the government’s continued efforts to stabilize prices and provide aid amid rising global oil costs and inflationary pressures.

The president highlighted measures from the UPLIFT Committee, which include top officials from the departments of energy, transportation, agriculture, finance, social welfare, and the budget.

In the statement, the National Price Coordinating Council recommended a price cap of ₱50 per kilo for imported well-milled rice, which will be formalized through an executive order. The 20-peso rice program has also been expanded, increasing supply from 600 tons to 2,000 tons across 627 centers nationwide to meet rising demand.

Additional support under the Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk, and Families will provide over 4 million beneficiaries with ₱2,325 each in April, while more than 100,000 fisherfolk and 40,000 farmers will receive fuel cards and subsidies.

Marcos also emphasized energy and transport interventions, citing the release of 1.04 million barrels of diesel by PNOCEC, with 142,000 barrels scheduled for delivery this week, supplemented by a ₱20 million DBM allocation for procurement.

Temporary suspension of the wholesale electricity spot market aims to prioritize lower-cost energy sources, including renewables, while ongoing drilling at Camago 3 adds 60 million cubic feet of domestic gas daily to reduce reliance on imported LNG.

In transportation, commuters benefit from 50% discounts on LRT-2 and MRT-3 rides, free rides in Metro Manila, Cebu, and Davao, and toll and terminal fee reductions for agricultural transport.

Marcos reported that cash assistance for transport workers and subsidies for drivers have already reached hundreds of thousands, with nationwide distribution set to continue in April. He also noted ongoing support for overseas Filipino workers, including repatriation and reintegration programs.
