San Miguel Beer rediscovered its depth at exactly the right time.
Shaking off a sluggish series opener, the Beermen unleashed a relentless bench assault to crush TNT, 111-92, on Friday at the Ynares Center, Antipolo, leveling the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup Finals at one game apiece.
After a quiet four-point showing in Game 1, Don Trollano regained his rhythm in spectacular fashion. The versatile forward scorched the Tropang Giga for a game-high 22 points, spearheading a bench unit that outproduced TNT’s reserves by a massive margin.
San Miguel Beer rode an early surge to dominate TNT, with Don Trollano and Juami Tiongson combining for 17 first-quarter points to build a 12-point lead.
Trollano kept SMB ahead in the third, scoring seven key points to maintain a 75-61 cushion heading into the final frame.
For TNT, Rey Nambatac led with 17, but Game 1 heroes Calvin Oftana and Simon Enciso struggled, scoring 11 and zero points, respectively.
With the series now at best-of-five, the momentum shifts back to the Beermen as both teams look toward a pivotal Game 3.
