San Miguel Beermen quickly put its semifinal stumble behind it.
After seeing a 10-game winning streak snapped in the opener, the Beermen regrouped and rallied past Barangay Ginebra, 93-84, to even their PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup semifinals series at 1-1 on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
San Miguel shook off a slow start and an 11-point deficit, trailing 42-34 at halftime, before finding its stride behind Fajardo, who led all scorers with 21 points.
The Beermen turned the game around in the third quarter, edging ahead, 65-63, then sealed the win with a composed fourth-period push.
Teng added 13 points, while Trollano, Cruz, and Perez provided timely support as San Miguel tightened its defense and controlled the closing stretch.
Ginebra leaned on Abarrientos and Holt, who scored 18 points each, but struggled to sustain its offense late as San Miguel dictated the tempo down the stretch.
The best-of-seven series now shifts forward with both teams locked at one game apiece.
Beermen and Gin Kings will face off for a 3rd match on Friday, January 9, at the Big Dome.
