The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) on Tuesday sought assistance from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in seeking justice for the alleged dumping of dead dogs and cats entrusted to a pet crematorium.

Present during the coordination were PAWS Executive Director Atty. Anna Cabrera and the several pet owners who filed complaints over the alleged improper disposal of their deceased companion animals by Ahjay Paws Aftercare Pet Crematorium.

"PAWS is currently at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Headquarters, coordinating with the Environmental Crime Division," the animal welfare organizations said in a social media post.

The case stemmed from reports that the remains of 29 dogs and cats brought to the pet crematorium in Bacoor City, Cavite, were instead found inside sacks dumped in a vacant lot in Barangay Minuyan Proper, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

The discovery sparked public outrage and raised concerns over the handling and disposal of deceased companion animals by pet crematoriums.

PAWS earlier called for a comprehensive nationwide investigation into the operations of pet crematoriums, stressing the need to ensure that pet owners are protected from possible abuses and that those responsible for improper disposal are held accountable.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has urged pet owners who may have been affected by the crematorium to file formal complaints.
