The number of passengers departing from ports in Western Leyte and Biliran on October 30, 2026, declined by 475 compared with the same date last year, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) reported.
The PPA's Port Management Office (PMO) Western Leyte/Biliran recorded 3,549 departing passengers from the ports of Ormoc, Hilongos, Palompon, Naval, Maasin, and Isabel on Friday.
The figure was lower than the 4,024 passengers recorded on October 30, 2025.
Despite the decline in passenger volume, the PMO said it continues to implement measures to ensure safe and orderly port operations.
These include regular patrols by port police and baggage inspections to maintain security within port facilities.
PMO personnel, in coordination with other government agencies, are also stationed at Malasakit Help Desks to provide information, guide passengers, and address their concerns.
