A woman filed an administrative complaint Thursday against a Pasay City police officer, accusing her live-in partner of repeatedly beating and threatening her during their nearly six-year relationship.

The complainant, identified by the alias 'Kara', said she suffered physical, emotional and mental abuse.

During a press briefing, she presented home security camera footage that circulated on social media. The videos allegedly showed the officer kicking her down a staircase and chasing her while she was carrying their child.

Kara also filed a criminal complaint Wednesday in Pasay City over alleged violations of Republic Act 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.

National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Ralph Calinisan said the alleged acts could constitute serious administrative offenses, including grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.

Calinisan ordered authorities to expedite the investigation and the filing of appropriate charges.

“Paglabas ng formal charge which I hope is within this week, lalabas yung preventive suspension niya. Obviously, there is a necessity to expedite.”

Police Staff Sergeant Tyran John Miranda admitted that his actions were wrong and apologized, saying he was prepared to face the consequences.

“Yung nangyari po, admitted ko naman na mali ko yon,” Miranda said. “Alam ko naman na mali lahat ng ginawa ko kaya buong-puso po akong humihingi ng pasensya sa ginagawa ko.”

His officer-in-charge said Miranda had been removed from his post, disarmed and placed under restrictive custody at the district level.

Calinisan also warned police officers accused of abuse that the NAPOLCOM would not hesitate to pursue them and hold them accountable for their actions.

“Hindi kami magdadalawang-isip, uubusin namin kayo. May oras kami para ubusin kayo.”
