Ang Bumbero ng Pilipinas Partylist 3rd nominee and former barangay chairman was gunned down by unidentified assailants Monday afternoon along Sta. Teresita St. corner P. Guevarra St. in Sampaloc, Manila.
According to a report by RH Boy Gonzales, an initial police investigation showed that Bacud was standing with several individuals when two unidentified men on a motorcycle arrived. The back rider got off the motorcycle and shot Bacud.
Furthermore, the back rider got off the motorcycle and shot Bacud.
A police officer in the area responded and exchanged gunfire with the suspects, but they managed to escape toward Lacson Avenue.
Bacud was rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead due to multiple gunshot wounds to different parts of his body.
Meanwhile, the police officer who responded to the scene is recovering after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg.
Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the shooting.
Following the incident, the Manila Police District (MPD) formed a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to thoroughly investigate the killing.
