The Office of the Vice President (OVP) on Wednesday has appointed Atty. Paolo Panelo as the new spokesperson for Vice President Sara Duterte.

In a statement, the OVP said Panelo will serve as Duterte’s official point of communication, representing the vice president’s views and positions in engagements with the media and the public.

The OVP said Panelo will also help make important information more accessible, clear and easier for the public to understand.

Panelo is the son of lawyer and former presidential spokesperson Salvador “Sal” Panelo.

“We warmly welcome Atty. Paolo to the role and look forward to his engagement in making important information more accessible, clear, and easier for the public to understand,” the OVP said.

The appointment comes as Duterte continues to face scrutiny over various issues, including the impeachment case filed against her and the ongoing Senate proceedings.
