The Pantone Color Institute revealed on Thursday that PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer, a soft and ethereal white, has been selected as the defining hue for 2026.

“A lofty white neutral whose aerated presence acts as a whisper of calm and peace in a noisy world. PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer symbolizes a calming influence in a society rediscovering the value of quiet reflection," Pantone said in their social media post.

Pantone further emphasized that this “billowy white imbued with serenity” encourages relaxation, mental clarity, and creative freedom “allowing the mind to wander and creativity to breathe.”

Beyond its symbolic meaning, Cloud Dancer is praised for its versatility. The Institute noted that the shade can “adapt, harmonize, and create contrast” across various product applications and environments, making it an ideal choice for fashion, interior design, branding, beauty, and more.

This marks the first time in Pantone’s history that a white shade has been chosen as the Color of the Year.
