The entire province of Pampanga has been placed under a state of calamity due to the severe impact of continuous rains and the enhanced southwest monsoon, or habagat, the provincial government said.

The declaration was made through Resolution No. 10524, based on disaster data as of noon Wednesday, Aug. 12.

The provincial government said 860,076 individuals, or 269,775 families, have been affected by the flooding, which has inundated 297 barangays across 17 local government units.

At least 7,731 people have evacuated their homes, while agricultural damage has exceeded 505 million pesos.

The flooding has also affected 3,787 farmers and fisherfolk in the province.

The state of calamity declaration is expected to expedite the use of calamity funds, relief operations, emergency response and other forms of assistance for residents severely affected by the disaster.

The provincial government urged Kapampangans to remain united and help one another as the province continues to deal with the effects of the enhanced southwest monsoon.

“Malasakit, bayanihan at pagkakaisa” remain the province’s foundation in responding to the disaster, the government said.
