The Palace respects the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 98’s issuance of an arrest warrant against Vice President Sara Duterte, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in relation to the former’s grave threats case.

Castro gave the brief comment when asked for a reaction regarding the arrest warrant issued on Friday, September 4, RH Leth Narciso reported.

She has previously mentioned that any statement indicating a threat to a person’s life—whether made seriously or as a joke—could be considered a direct threat as it creates fear and anxiety in the person being threatened.

Moreover, the undersecretary said that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. takes threats to life seriously and considers it a matter of national security.

The case filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) stemmed from an online press conference in November 2024, where Duterte claimed that she hired an assassin to kill the President, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, if she were to be killed.

In a previous statement, Marcos condemned the alleged assassination plot, emphasizing that any criminal attempt on his life should not be taken lightly.

In an update, the vice president confirmed that she was given notice of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Maria Angelica De Ramos.

Meanwhile, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla told reporters that Duterte’s camp intends to post bail as soon as possible.
