Malacañang is ready to allot additional funds to bolster security in public schools across the nation and keep learners, teachers, and school employees safe.
This statement comes after the tragic Monday shooting incident at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City that killed three minors and injured 20. The move aims to prevent the recurrence of such an incident, reported RH 14 Leth Narciso.
Castro said they will be reviewing the allotment of funds in order to obtain the services of well-trained security guards and implement other security measures to ensure students’ and staff’s safety.
As part of the move, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also ordered a review of existing school security policies.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) advised schools to open only one to two gates to better monitor and control the entry and exit of individuals from school premises.
