

The Office of the President has ordered government offices in the National Capital Region and 17 provinces to implement appropriate alternative work arrangements on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 129, the Office of the President directed the adoption of alternative work arrangements in the following areas:

The Office of the President also ordered the implementation of alternative learning modes and learning continuity measures for classes at all levels in public and private schools in the affected areas.
The directive said these measures shall be implemented “Unless otherwise directed by their respective Local Chief Executives.”
However, agencies responsible for basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services are required to continue operations and provide necessary services.
The Palace also clarified that the suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements in the private sector will remain at the discretion of management.
The order covers government offices and educational institutions in the 18 identified areas for August 19, 2026, while ensuring that essential public services remain operational.
