Malacañang on Monday refuted claims circulating online that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is suffering from health issues.
In a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro dismissed the allegations as “fake news,” assuring the public that the President is in good condition.
“Definitely…maayos po siya,” Castro said.
Castro added that Marcos is expected to proceed with his scheduled engagements, including an afternoon event in Malacañang. The President is set to lead the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected national executive officers of the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines at 2:30 p.m.
“Mamaya po ay magkakaroon ng oathtaking with the vice mayors. So meron po siyang event,” she said.
The clarification came after social media posts raised concerns about the President’s condition, particularly following his recent upload of an old family photo during the Easter observance.
Castro urged the public to be cautious in consuming information online, warning against the spread of misinformation.
“Huwag tayong masyadong maniwala… ang dami-dami pong fake news,” she said, noting that even she has been a target of false claims.
Marcos spent the Holy Week in his home province of Ilocos Norte.
