The Palace on Thursday said it has “no reaction” to reports of alleged multi-billion-peso transactions linked to Vice President Sara Duterte and former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, following disclosures raised in a hearing session involving the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC).
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro made the statement during a press briefing with the Malacañang Press Corps on Thursday, April 23.
Castro said Malacañang would not take a position on the matter.
“Hindi ito bago na narinig natin. So, walang reaksyon ang Pangulo, walang reaksyon ang Palasyo,” Castro said.
When asked about the Vice President’s continued silence, Castro said no message from the Palace was necessary.
During the third impeachment hearing on Wednesday, April 22, the AMLC reported that accounts linked to Vice President Duterte allegedly recorded hundreds of large and suspicious transactions over two decades, with individual transactions reaching as high as P55.16 million.
The AMLC also cited additional transactions involving third-party accounts where Duterte was identified as a beneficiary or counterparty.
