The administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday dismissed circulating reports alleging a new destabilization plot against the government, with a Palace official stressing that no such threat is currently being monitored.
During a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro said there is no ongoing or active destabilization effort against the administration.
“Wala po tayong nadidinig na anumang plano na [destabilisasyon] laban sa gobyerno, pero even before naman eh, hindi lang naman ngayon ‘yan eh,” Castro told reporters.
She added that authorities are aware of the sources behind such narratives, suggesting that these come from groups seeking to remove the President from office.
“Alam naman natin kung saan nanggagaling ’yan at alam natin kung sino ang gusto nilang paupuin,” she said.
Castro also reminded the public to remain vigilant against misinformation and urged the public to be cautious about unverified claims spreading online and elsewhere.
“Sa mga taumbayan, lagi na lang tayo magmatyag at maging mapanuri lalong-lalo na sa fake news,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr. said on Monday that no destabilization efforts have been detected within active ranks of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) amid the possible impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
