Malacañang on Friday assured the public that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will thoroughly review the proposed 2026 national budget before formally signing it into law by the end of the year.
Claire Castro said in a press conference.
She added that the President will ensure all enrolled bills are closely examined to guarantee they prioritize the welfare of the Filipino people and align with the administration’s objectives.
Castro further noted that Palace executives are prepared to work with a ‘no holidays’ approach to ensure that only a "transparent" and "people-centered" budget is finalized.
She also referenced last year’s experience, when the Bicameral Conference Committee ratified the proposed 2025 budget early, allowing the President to identify questionable insertions and conduct a thorough Cabinet review.
Given the limited timeframe, Castro assured that the President will carefully study the 2026 budget and exercise his veto power if necessary.
