Malacañang on Wednesday welcomed the decision of the House Committee on Justice to dismiss two impeachment complaints filed against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., according to a report by RH Leth Narciso.
The House panel cited the complaints as “insufficient in substance,” effectively rejecting the allegations against the president.
In an interview with the reporters, Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro said Marcos did not personally attend the hearings but has been briefed on the development.
Castro emphasized that the president remains confident he did not commit any impeachable offense.
The Palace official also dismissed claims that President Marcos was confident the complaints would fail due to his influence in the House, noting that the accusations were weak and lacked merit.
The Palace also dismissed claims that the President’s confidence stemmed from his influence over the House, with Castro noting that even his critics have acknowledged the complaints were weak and lacked merit.
Marcos hopes the country can now move forward, focusing on the economy and the welfare of the Filipino people, said Castro.
