Malacañang on Wednesday pushed back against allegations made by Caloocan City Rep. Edgar "Egay" Erice, who accused President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of merely “nambobola “ or deceiving the public regarding the passage of the Anti-Political Dynasty Bill in the House of Representatives.
During a press conference, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro responded to Erice’s claim that Marcos supported what the congressman described as a weak version of the proposed measure.
In a press briefing, Castro challenged the Caloocan lawmaker to fully demonstrate his arguments once deliberations on the Anti-Dynasty Bill begin at the plenary.
Castro stressed that crafting legislation is the responsibility of lawmakers, urging Erice to focus on his duties as a member of Congress.
The proposed Anti-Political Dynasty Bill has already cleared the committee level at the House of Representatives. The measure seeks to prohibit political dynasties up to the second degree of consanguinity or affinity.
Erice earlier withdrew his co-authorship of the bill, citing concerns over its provisions.
