Malacañang on Wednesday assured the public that authorities are monitoring social media warnings about alleged plans by protest groups to march toward Camp Crame and Malacañang, but said there is no immediate cause for alarm.

During a Palace press briefing, Palace Press Officer and Undersecretary Claire Castro said the government has taken note of the circulating claims and will not disregard any potential security threats, whether true or not.

However, she questioned the credibility of the claims and expressed doubt that members of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), which has been holding organized rallies, would be involved in any destabilization efforts.

“Sino ba ang lulusob? Sino sa mga nagpo-protesta?” she said.

Castro emphasized that the government respects the leadership and integrity of the INC and does not believe its activities are intended to undermine the state.

She also urged caution, noting that certain groups may attempt to exploit public gatherings or sentiments for political destabilization.

In response to questions on whether the President has issued specific directives, Castro said security agencies remain on alert amid reports of individuals allegedly encouraging broader protest actions that could escalate into calls for the removal of the President

Castro added that attempts to oust the President are not new and that the government is prepared to address any security challenges.

So handa naman ang gobyerno para dyan,” she said.

Authorities have not confirmed any credible threat at this time but continue to monitor developments as part of standard security protocols.
