Following the “irrevocable” resignation of Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) Chairperson Monalisa Dimalanta last July 14, Presidential Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro announced the new appointments in the ERC at a press briefing, Thursday, July 17.

With high hopes to perform a more efficient, transparent and pro-consumer decision making in ERC, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Atty. Francis Saturnino Juan as the new chairperson of the ERC.

“Atty. Juan brings with him decades of experience in regulatory affairs, having previously served as executive director and general counsel of the ERC, and currently as president of the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines,” Castro said in the briefing

“He has played a key role in operationalizing the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market, advocating consumer protection, and promoting renewable energy development through tariff reforms,” she added.
