Several parts of the country may experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms on Sunday, October 11, due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and other prevailing weather systems, according to the PAGASA.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said the ITCZ is affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, while easterlies are affecting the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon. Northeasterly windflow is prevailing over Extreme Northern Luzon.
Mindanao, the Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, and the Negros Island Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.
Metro Manila, CALABARZON, the rest of Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan may also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by easterlies.
Meanwhile, Batanes is expected to have cloudy skies with rains due to the northeasterly windflow.
The rest of the Visayas and Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned that moderate to, at times, heavy rains could trigger flash floods or landslides in areas affected by the ITCZ and easterlies. Flash floods or landslides may also occur during severe thunderstorms in other parts of the country.
For coastal conditions, moderate to strong winds from the northeast to east are forecast over Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Central Luzon, with moderate to rough seas reaching 1.5 to 2.8 meters.
The rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
PAGASA also reported that Typhoon Koguma was outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as of 3 a.m. Sunday. It was located 2,795 kilometers east-northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 215 kph.
The weather bureau advised the public to remain alert for possible flooding and landslides, particularly in areas vulnerable to heavy rainfall, and to monitor official weather updates.
