The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday, October 9, forecast cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over parts of the country due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and a trough of a low-pressure area (LPA).

In its 4 a.m. weather forecast, PAGASA said the ITCZ is affecting Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan, while the northeasterly windflow is affecting the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon.

The weather bureau said Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Quezon, Marinduque, and Romblon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of an LPA.

Similar weather conditions are expected over Mindanao, the rest of Visayas, and Palawan due to the ITCZ.

Meanwhile, Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with rains brought by the northeasterly windflow.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, on the other hand, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned that moderate to, at times, heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides in areas affected by scattered rains and thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may also occur during severe thunderstorms in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The public is advised to remain alert for possible sudden downpours and monitor PAGASA's latest weather advisories, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides.
