The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Friday that no tropical cyclone is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the coming days, while most parts of the country will continue to experience generally fair weather with afternoon and evening thunderstorms.

As of 5 AM, PAGASA Weather Specialist Obert Badrina said a tropical depression remains outside PAR, about 3,000 kilometers east of Southeastern Mindanao.

Because the weather disturbance has not entered PAR and has yet to reach tropical storm intensity, it has not been assigned an international name.

According to Badrina, current weather models show a low probability that the tropical depression will enter PAR. Instead, it is expected to weaken into a low pressure area in the next few days.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect Extreme Northern Luzon, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms over the area.

Across the rest of the country, generally fair weather is expected to prevail, although localized thunderstorms may develop in the afternoon and evening due to daytime heating.

PAGASA warned the public to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides during severe thunderstorms.

The weather bureau also forecasts generally fair weather to continue through Saturday.

By Sunday, however, the southwest monsoon is expected to bring scattered rains over parts of the Ilocos Region, Bataan, and Zambales as it gradually expands its influence beyond Extreme Northern Luzon.

From Monday to Tuesday, Habagat may also affect the western portions of Central and Southern Luzon, as well as parts of Western Visayas, resulting in cloudier skies and a higher chance of rain in these areas.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said no gale warning has been raised over any part of the country. Sea conditions nationwide are expected to remain slight to moderate, making it generally safe for small sea vessels to venture out.

However, the weather bureau advised mariners to exercise caution during thunderstorms, which could temporarily produce rougher sea conditions.
