The low pressure area (LPA) earlier reported east of Infanta, Quezon has intensified into a tropical depression named “Mirasol,” according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
“At 2:00 PM today (16 September), the LPA East of Infanta, Quezon developed into TD MIRASOL. Tropical Cyclone Bulletins will be issued beginning at 5:00 PM today,” PAGASA said.
“All are advised to monitor updates from DOST-PAGASA,” it added.
Earlier, PAGASA said it was monitoring two low-pressure areas (LPAs) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). The LPA designated as 09d, located 274 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon, was reported to have a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, another LPA, designated as 09c and last spotted 655 kilometers west of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, is unlikely to develop into a tropical depression within the same period.
The public is advised to closely monitor updates and advisories from the Department of Science and Technology–PAGASA.
