A low pressure area (LPA) being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) is unlikely to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, according to PAGASA.

As of 8 a.m. Sunday, August 16, the LPA, designated as LPA 08e, was located 2,410 kilometers east-northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon.

Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat continues to affect Luzon and the western section of Visayas.

Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, Cagayan, Zambales, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, and Occidental Mindoro are expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon.

Mindanao, meanwhile, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA advised the public to remain alert for possible sudden changes in weather, particularly in areas that may experience thunderstorms and scattered rains.
