The Southwest Monsoon or habagat will bring rains to several parts of Luzon and the Visayas today, August 30 according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its 4 a.m. update, PAGASA said the habagat is affecting Luzon and Visayas, with several areas expected to experience monsoon rains, occasional rains, and thunderstorms.
Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, and Pampanga will have monsoon rains due to the Southwest Monsoon.
Metro Manila, Ilocos Norte, the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro will experience occasional rains.
Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon, Western Visayas, and the Negros Island Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.
The rest of the Visayas will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
In Mindanao, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are expected due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also tracks LPA
PAGASA is monitoring a Low Pressure Area (LPA 08j) located inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), about 1,340 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon as of 3 a.m. today.
The weather bureau said the LPA has a “HIGH” chance of developing into a Tropical Depression within the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the Tropical Depression "SAUDEL" (formerly "OBET") is being monitored OUTSIDE the PAR.
The agency is likewise monitoring Tropical Depression Saudel (2618), formerly known as “Obet,” which remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Saudel was located 1,105 kilometers west-northwest of Extreme Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h and gustiness of up to 75 km/h.
It was moving southwestward at 25 km/h.
