

A Philippine Air Force (PAF) SF-260 trainer aircraft crashed in Cabuyao, Tuba, Benguet, at around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, during a navigation training flight, resulting in the deaths of both pilots on board.
In an official statement, the PAF said the aircraft was one of ten trainer planes that departed Fernando Air Base in Lipa City en route to Baguio City when the incident occurred.
“The Philippine Air Force confirms that one SF-260 trainer aircraft crashed… during a navigation training flight,” the statement read, adding that immediate coordination was made with local government units and nearby air bases following the crash.
PAF Spokesperson Colonel Ma. Christina Basco confirmed the fatal outcome, saying, “We are deeply saddened to inform you that both pilots passed away.”
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the pilots as next of kin are being notified.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident. “The PAF will release further updates once verified information becomes available,” it added.
Military and local response teams remain on site as recovery and investigation efforts continue.
