The Philippine Air Force (PAF) inaugurated its first 2-in-1 Full Motion Flight Simulator, marking a significant leap in flight training.
The inauguration took place at the Brigadier General Benito N Ebuen Air Base in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, led by Air Force Commanding General LtGen. Arthur Cordura. RH Edniel Parrosa reported that the flight simulator was created by a company in Romania, through the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) modernization program.
“The milestone introduces interchangeable S-70i and Bell 412EP cockpits—delivering immersive, safe, and cost-efficient training for PAF airmen,” the PAF wrote in a social media post.
The simulator was installed in August and passed the final technical inspection in November.
“Strengthening mission readiness and supporting the modernization drive, this new capability elevates pilot proficiency and advances the PAF’s globally aligned training systems,” its caption read.
During the ceremony, Cordura also stated, “Let’s optimize its use, maintain it, and sustain it.”
The simulator can be used for realistic pilot training without needing actual air assets, which saves on fuel and maintenance.
Earlier this year, a PAF aircraft was involved in two major accidents: the FA-50 crash in Bukidnon and the Super Huey helicopter crash in Agusan del Sur.
