Senator Robin Padilla on Monday expressed his support for the anticipated return of Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson as chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, which is responsible for probing anomalies in flood control projects.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Padilla acknowledged that political differences can make it challenging to remain calm but warned that attacking one another over the panel’s leadership would not serve the Senate’s interests.
Padilla urged his colleagues to set aside partisan differences, emphasizing that Lacson’s leadership would benefit the Senate’s integrity and stability.
While Padilla recognized that members of the minority bloc favor former Blue Ribbon chair Senator Rodante Marcoleta, he stressed that the minority does not have the authority to appoint committee chairs.
Padilla did not name any specific senator in his remarks.
