Sherifa Mastura, chairperson of the Sultan Kudarat Descendants Organization of the Philippines-NCR Chapter, said Friday that their group would continue to support Sen. Robin Padilla as he faces a preliminary investigation at the Department of Justice over an obstruction of justice complaint.

According to a report by RH Tina Nolasco, Mastura said about 3,000 members of their group were expected to gather outside the DOJ to show their support for Padilla, who was scheduled to attend the preliminary investigation at 2 p.m.

“Kami ay handang alalayan siya sa anumang mangyari, hindi namin siya bibitawan. Si Sen. Robin Padilla ay kapatid namin sa isla,” Mastura said.

Some members of the Muslim community had gathered outside the DOJ around noon, ahead of the senator’s scheduled appearance.

Mastura also said some supporters were willing to make sacrifices for Padilla as they defended him during the protest.

“Senator Robin Padilla… ipagdadasal ka namin kahit pa ang kapalit ay aming buhay para sa’yo,” she said.

The supporters also defended Padilla against critics who have called him “bobo,” or unintelligent.

Mastura described the senator as kind and helpful, saying the criticism would not stop them from supporting him.

“Siya po ay mabait, matulungin, ang nag-iisang bobo na gwapo. Anuman ang gawin niyo, inggit lang kayo kaya nandito kami upang suportahan and protect Senator Robinhood Padilla,” she said.
