Senator Robin Padilla confirmed on Monday that he has prepared his own draft of a Senate resolution calling for the dismissal of the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte, but clarified that it has not yet been officially filed.
“Basta meron akong draft,” Padilla told reporters, asserting that while he supports the Vice President, his initiative was done independently.
Amid reports that several Pro-Duterte senators are pushing to junk the impeachment complaint, Padilla clarified that there was no coordinated effort among them.
“Magkakaiba kami, hindi kami nag-uusap-usap. May kaniya-kaniya kaming pag-iisip, may kanya-kaniya kaming gawa, may kanya-kanya kaming staff,” the senator said, highlighting that each senator is working on their own version of the resolution.
“Kami, Duterte kami, malinaw naman siguro ‘yun. Kahit sunugin mo ako dito, mangangamoy Rodrigo Roa Duterte ako,” he added.
When asked if he had consulted Vice President Sara Duterte regarding his draft, Padilla was quick to deny it.
The senator’s statement comes after Senator Imee Marcos said a resolution had already been filed by him — a claim he refuted, clarifying that no formal submission has been made.
The resolution in question was said to be similar to the draft prepared by Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa last week.
