Workers in Central Visayas are set to receive a ₱42 increase in their daily minimum wage after the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) approved the adjustment, according to Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Francis Tolentino.

In an interview during DZRH’s Dos Por Dos, Tolentino said the wage hike will cover minimum wage earners in Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor.

The increase is scheduled to take effect on October 14, 2026, following the required publication period.

Under the new rates, the daily minimum wage in Class A areas, including Expanded Metro Cebu, will rise from ₱540 to ₱582, while workers in Class B areas will receive ₱542, up from ₱500.

The adjustment covers both agricultural and non-agricultural minimum wage workers in the four provinces.

Negros Oriental and Siquijor remain under the wage-setting jurisdiction of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-7 pending the establishment of a separate wage board for the Negros Island Region.

Meanwhile, the NWPC also approved a ₱500 increase in the minimum monthly wage for domestic workers or kasambahays in Central Visayas, raising it from ₱7,000 to ₱7,500.

The wage hike follows consultations and public hearings conducted by the regional wage board before the NWPC approved the adjustment.
