The Office of the Vice President (OVP) on Wednesday warned the public against fraudulent social media groups using the name “Duterte Legacy” to lure users with supposed prize giveaways.

In an advisory, the OVP said these groups falsely claim that Vice President Sara Duterte and her family are distributing rewards, including through mobile e-wallets and other online platforms.

The office urged the public not to believe such posts and to avoid engaging with the groups, which may be used by scammers to collect personal information.

“Ikinababahala natin ang patuloy na paglalaganap ng mga social media groups tulad ng Duterte legacy na nagpapakalat na ako at ang aking pamilya ay nagbibigay ng papremyo,” Duterte said in an online statement.

She emphasized that neither she nor her office is conducting any giveaway or promotional activity involving cash or prizes.

“Ang tanggapan ng pangalawang pangulo, at maging ako man, ay hindi nagbibigay ng mga papremyo sa mobile e-wallet o anumang platform,” she said.

The OVP advised the public to remain vigilant and refrain from sharing sensitive personal details online, warning that such information could be exploited for fraudulent activities.
