The Philippine government has repatriated 9,038 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from the Middle East since March 5, 2026, amid ongoing tensions and unrest in the region, authorities said.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) reported that alongside the repatriation efforts, a total of 17,517 OFWs have received financial assistance through the DMW AKSYON Fund. The aid covers both workers who have already returned home and those still in affected countries but impacted by the crisis.

Of the total beneficiaries, 9,822 OFWs received financial assistance during the repatriation process, while 7,695 were provided onsite financial aid while still abroad.

The government also extended USD 200 in cash assistance to workers affected by the situation as they prepare to return to the Philippines.

Upon arrival in the country, repatriated OFWs were given additional support from the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), including assistance for immediate needs and reintegration.

The DMW said repatriation operations and assistance programs will continue as needed to ensure the safe return of affected workers, in line with directives from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The government is also strengthening reintegration support through the National Reintegration Network as part of a whole-of-government approach aimed at helping returning OFWs and their families rebuild livelihoods and achieve stable income sources in the country.
