Over 900 public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers in Mandaluyong have not received financial assistance from the local government due to a “technical error,” which left them out of the masterlist of beneficiaries.
In a report by RH 52 Edniel Parrosa on Wednesday, there were more jeepney drivers in line outside the Mandaluyong City Hall who were not given the expected ₱5,000 cash aid than those who were.
Speaking to DZRH News, Mandaluyong Alliance of Jeepney Operators and Drivers (MAJODA) said that over 900 more names were missing from the masterlist of 531 beneficiaries.
Discrepancies were found in the drivers’ personal information—technical mistakes in spelling and birth dates—resulting in their exclusion from the masterlist.
“Technical error lang po. Kasi may binigay na format ang LTFRB, sa typing, hindi nasunod. Halimbawa, ang naging problema sa’kin, ‘yung birthday ko. Dapat, “10/11/67.” Ang nailagay, “October 11.” May words. Hindi na puwede ‘yun, dapat number,” a driver told Parrosa.
Consequently, the drivers signed up again, in the hopes that their payouts would be given by Saturday.
Many expressed dismay at having waited in vain when they could have been working and because they had supposedly submitted the necessary requirements some time ago.
In Marikina, the local government postponed the disbursement of the ₱5,000 monetary aid, as it decided to complete its list of jeepney drivers first. There were drivers who were unaware of this, and spent their morning waiting by the Marikina Convention Center.
