The Philippine National Police (PNP) has activated its nationwide security operation dubbed “Ligtas Paskuhan 2025” to maintain peace and order during the holiday season, RH 52 Edniel Parrosa reported.
According to Acting PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., a total of 70,744 police personnel have been deployed across the country as part of the operation.
The police force will be supported by 6,892 auxiliary units and 24,526 assets, which will be deployed to churches, public places, and designated firecracker zones to ensure public safety.
Moreover, the PNP will focus security efforts on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, when large crowds are expected. Authorities also aim to minimize the use of firecrackers and other fireworks during the celebrations.
Nartatez warned that the one-strike policy remains in effect for police commanders who fail to discipline their personnel, especially in cases involving indiscriminate firing of guns.
He added that there is no directive on sealing or surrendering service firearms, a practice that the PNP abandoned years ago.
The PNP urged the public to cooperate with authorities and to celebrate the holidays safely and responsibly.
