

A total of 789 people were stranded in 58 ports across the country on Friday afternoon due to inclement weather brought by Typhoon Inday, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported.
In a maritime safety advisory, the PCG said that as of 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, those affected included passengers, truck drivers, and cargo helpers who were unable to continue their journeys due to hazardous sea conditions.
Aside from stranded individuals, the PCG reported that 249 rolling cargoes, 13 vessels, and 33 motorbancas were also stranded. Meanwhile, 158 vessels and 145 motorbancas sought shelter in various ports as authorities enforced safety measures amid the typhoon.
Southern Tagalog recorded the highest number of affected maritime assets, with 271 passengers and 23 rolling cargoes stranded, while 109 vessels and 118 motorbancas took shelter in ports across the region.

130 passengers and one vessel were stranded in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

PCG recorded 64 stranded passengers and four vessels in Palawan.

Eight motorbancas took shelter at one affected port in North Eastern Luzon.

In Central Visayas, six vessels and 30 motorbancas were stranded, along with 94 passengers and 97 rolling cargoes. Another 18 vessels and 17 motorbancas sought shelter across several ports.

Meanwhile, Western Visayas recorded 138 stranded passengers and 108 rolling cargoes, while five vessels and one motorbanca took shelter.

PCG also reported 92 stranded passengers, 21 rolling cargoes, two vessels, and three motorbancas. Eight vessels and one motorbanca also took shelter in Bicol.

The PCG reminded the public to prioritize maritime safety and follow directives from authorities as Typhoon Inday continues to affect sea travel conditions in several parts of the country.
Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 4-A – CALABARZON distributed 32 ready-to-eat food (RTEF) boxes to stranded passengers at Lucena Port on Friday, July 10.
