At least 46,923 individuals have been affected by the combined effects of the shear line and Tropical Depression Verbena, according to the latest report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
RH Edniel Parrosa reports that the figure represents 15,363 families from the CARAGA Region alone, with the agency noting that this does not yet include residents in flood-hit areas in Negros Island and Cebu province, where Verbena continues to bring heavy rainfall.
As of now, 485 families or 1,966 individuals remain in 19 evacuation centers, while authorities continue to monitor other communities impacted by the widespread rains.
The NDRRMC also reported five impassable roads—three in Region VI and two in CARAGA—due to flooding and landslides.
Meanwhile, 59 ports across MIMAROPA, Region VI, Negros Island Region, Region VII, and CARAGA remain non-operational because of rough sea conditions brought by the weather disturbance.
Authorities advised the public to stay alert for possible additional flooding and landslides as rains persist over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
