A total of 2,061 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Saudi Arabia have received government assistance following flight cancellations and delays, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said.
Of the affected workers, 1,765 are in Riyadh, 260 in Jeddah, and 36 in Al Khobar. They received food, temporary accommodation, transportation, financial assistance, and medical and psychological services.
The assistance was provided through the DMW's AKSYON Fund and OWWA's Emergency Repatriation Fund (ERF) under the Saving Lives component of the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) Assistance Program.
Meanwhile, 199 OFWs and their family dependents have returned to the Philippines since October 19, 2026, through coordination between OWWA and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Riyadh.
The government also assisted OFWs who temporarily lost their jobs following the suspension of airport operations in Riyadh.
In addition, the DMW and OWWA provided assistance to 114 OFWs from Manila whose flights were canceled at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
The DMW said it is also coordinating with other government agencies under the National Reintegration Network to help returning OFWs meet their needs and readjust as they restart their lives in the Philippines.
The assistance is being carried out under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to support affected Filipino workers and their families.
