Over 200 rallyists on Thursday gathered in front of the Senate building to condemn senators who favor China’s claims over Philippine territory—dubbed as “Chinators”—and to show support for the country’s sovereignty over the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

In a report by RH 15 Jecelle Ricafort, the Filipinos Do Not Yield (FDNY) Movement led the demonstration.

The group carried placards and shouted that the people will not tolerate China’s bullying and fight for the WPS. They criticized several senators who, despite China’s aggression, side with them and even appear to be giving away the country’s rights to its own territory.

Several rallyists wore large bags woven from palm leaves over their faces and held caricatures of senators who have expressed support for China, which they later burned.

According to FDNY Co-Convenor Giselle Albano, they were dismayed by Senator Rodante Marcoleta’s statement about giving up the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG).

“Hindi po kami makapaniwala dahil siya po ay Pilipino. Bakit natin kailangang i-give up ang atin? Dahil ba sila ay may bahay sa ibang bansa at wala silang pakialam sa Pilipinas? Wala silang pakialam sa Pilipino … Ang bayang Pilipinas po ang bumoto sa kanila,” she told reporters.

The group also acknowledged the senators who voted in favor of Senate Resolution No. 256, which condemned China’s attacks on government officials.

In addition, the protesters staged a dramatic presentation depicting Filipinos’ firm stance against misinformation and propaganda from Beijing.
